Great read and photos KB! Sounds like you and Stretch had an awesome adventure. When the dirt bike craze hit in the early 70's I rode almost every weekend when they had cleared for Lake Jocassee. In addition to the roads and trails you and Stretch rode on, we could ride along the river bed among the totally cleared property now under water. Jumping off Rock was a popular destination many times. Used to go there on a first date in my Jeep and picnic lunch on the rocks. Once drove a new 1978 Grand Prix all the way from the Hwy 11 entrance near the cliffs, through to Laurel Valley Lodge on 178. Any one on here remember "Big Red" the infamous hill that separated the real dirt bikers from the wanna be's? I made it up once and never tried it again.
Keep your blog going after your next ride please.
