Well, she FINALLY got her maiden voyage ride out of the way. We rode the bikes over to Abbeville for a bite to eat. It was almost a 50-mile round-trip jaunt with nothing exciting happening. We could both tell it has been a while since we've been on the bikes. She was riding her Ducati Monster 900ie and I was on the 748. The 748 is definitely NOT the bike to want to ride for the first time in nearly a year. Looks like we may be riding up in the mountains, again, soon. I think we may have to rig up our trailer for two bikes and trailer them over to the mountains. These flat roads are boring and mind-numbing. I'd hate to imagine what it would be like trying to ride them through Anderson.

Yeah. Been two years tomorrow since she last rode on a bike. She switched over to horses the last year, but the lack of bike riding has been nagging away at her. There's been a lot going on, but if it wasn't for everything else, she'd probably had gotten back on the bike a lot sooner.

Thanks for rubbing it in...

Serisously, so glad to hear she's back riding again, and you too. Excellent news!

Neither of us has ridden since that last ride. I'm still busy as hell and she's been having back issues combined with the hip/leg/ankle/foot issues. We believe she has 5-6 slipped discs, so we have been looking into potentially getting some laser surgery done in the future for her.

In the meantime, I bought a pretty nice, low-hour, 2003 Massey-Ferguson with a front end loader.

This was a fun and interesting thread to reread from start to finish. I finished Vicki's book about a month ago and some of the things mentioned in this thread are in it. The cover pretty much remained the same, the SaddleSore 1000 is in it, and the time we both crashed while in front of Stretch on 215 is in it, also. I thought the book was 3/4 done when I started to finish it up 13 months ago, but I wound up writing more than what I had existing at the time. There were a lot more details and stories to add before we called it finished.

I'm actually almost done with the second book. It basically only covers the last accident, dealing with the insurance companies and lawyer, reinvesting most of the settlement to help with life-long medical expenses, and the status of her injuries the last few years. Our lawyer had us keep journals the first 2-3 months after this last accident, so that is the bulk of this book. You get to see how the accident affected her and the whole family.
